Kristen Cox is an award-winning producer who specializes in high definition. A member of the Consumer Electronics Association’s Academy of Digital Pioneers and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, her experience with a wide variety of productions including documentaries, commercials, media tours, live concerts, live sports and promotional spots for technology companies has equipped her with the skills and vision necessary to achieve engaging, cost-effective programs.
Kristen started her career at KWTX, the CBS affiliate, in Waco, TX, where she honed her television and video skills and assisted in the production of live evening newscasts.
Kristen went on to work for HD VISION, where she became one of a select few HDTV producers in the United States. She produced the first live HDTV transmission of a sporting event: the Baltimore Orioles vs. Cleveland Indians baseball game for Harris Corporation, viewed by members of congress and the FCC at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. who were interested in seeing for themselves whether HD was indeed a viable new product for consumers.
As President and CEO of 16x9 Productions, started in 1999, Kristen has produced programs that were broadcast on Discovery HD, PBS, In HD, Wealth TV and HD Net. She also produces industrial content for clients such as RCA, Texas Instruments, Samsung and LG Electronics. In addition, she has produced a number of live concerts that were transmitted to Digital Theaters across the nation via fiber and satellite links. Bridge Dwellers: The Bats Of Austin was awarded Platinum Best In Show for children’s programming by the Aurora Awards; Fiesta In The Sky was simulcast in HDTV and NTSC nationally by PBS and Artist In The Round: Shayne Dark was nominated for Best HDTV Documentary by HD Fest.
Production wrapped up in June of 2006 on “Closing Escrow”, an independent feature produced by Kristen that was released in theaters Aug. 24, 2007 and is currently available nationwide via DVD sale and rental.
In 2011, Kristen was bestowed the Outstanding Young Alumni award by her alma mater, Baylor University.
Kristen’s productions have garnered awards from Telly, Aurora, Aegis, CES, Videographer, Summit, Cinema Chicago and the Communicator, as well as nominations for outstanding work by the International Electronic Cinema Festival (IECF). Cox was also recognized by AV Video Multimedia Producer Magazine as one of the Top 100 Producers of 2000.
Kristen has also contributed her talents to several prestigious panel discussions, speaking on HDTV production to attendees at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Festival; the International Wildlife Film Festival and NATPE, where she joined a Dolby Sound Lab panel discussion about proper 5.1 surround sound capture techniques for HD production. She spoke on the HDTV Super Panel at the HD Expo and on the Challenges in HD Content Creation Panel at the HDTV Forum in Los Angeles.
